Installation

WetWall and BathWall panels are easy to install with normal DIY tools. As with all types of projects, sound preparation will facilitate the speed and ease of the installation.

Please read the following section prior to starting your installation then follow one of the links at the bottom of the page.

Inspection

Prior to the installation, inspect the panels closely for damages or other visible defects. Any damage or defect should be reported immediately to the supplying distributor as failure to do so may effect the limit of the claim. DO NOT install panels that are found to be defective. Wetwall panels are supplied with a protective film. If it is apparent that the film has been damaged then it should be removed to allow for a positive inspection of the laminate face.

Conditioning WetWall panels must be pre-conditioned to the environment in which they are to be installed for a minimum period of 48 hours prior to installation.
Storage WetWall panels should be stored flat and supported on bearers with the decorative faces together. Do not lean panels at an angle against a wall of near any type of heat source.
Handling WetWall panels should be carried vertically and care should be taken to avoid damage to the edge of the panel.

Surface Preparation

Tiles
It is essential that the tiles are degreased prior to installation, failure to do so can result in the adhesive failing to 'key' to the face of the tile.
Plastered Surfaces If newly plastered, it is essential that the wall is thoroughly dried out. Both new and old plastered surfaces should then be sealed with a PVA sealer.
Uneven Surfaces If the surface is very uneven then a groundwork of timber studs must be used to provide a level surface.

Fitting Tips

Cutting
When cutting the panels to width and height with a handsaw, the decorative face should be upwards.
When cutting with a Jig Saw or Circular Saw the decorative face should be downwards.

Sealing
A 2mm gap should be left above the shower tray or bath by using packers when fixing the panels. The gaps should then be sealed using WetWall Sealant. WetWall Sealant should also be used in all the corner and capping profiles.
It is also important than any exposed edge of the panel is sealed with WetWall sealant.

Apertures
A clearance of 2mm gap should be where pipes or fittings come through the panel even where collars are to be fitted.
The clearance should then be filled with WetWall sealant.
It is important that the corners of the aperture are rounded (i.e. if cutting a square hole). as stress cracking can occur at sharp corners.
Fittings
Fittings and shower attachments can be fitted directly to the panels using suitable fixings.
Heavy Items such as sinks and towel rails will require additional support and the manufacturers instructions should be followed.
If the panelling is to be fitted to timber studs it is wise to put additional dwags where heavy items are to be installed.
